Manage Sitelinks
Sitelinks are a fundamental component in SambaBox that govern the replication of directory data between different SambaBox sites within a network. A SambaBox site represents a physical or logical grouping of network segments and is typically associated with a specific geographical location. Sitelinks define the connections and replication schedule between these sites.
Create a new Sitelink
By clicking on Create New Site Link button
By right clicking and selecting Create New Site Link
As stated before sitelinks controls the replication of directory data between different SambaBox sites.
For example: If we want a replication link between SambaBox01 and SambaBox02 servers located in different cities like Ankara and Istanbul, the sitelink configuration should be as below.
Add A Site to a Site Link
Sites in a Site Link can be modified. For example in a scenario in which a new site comes into play in a remote destination and user wants to add it to the replication sitelink Add Site can be used.
also a site can be removed from Site Link using the remove link right beside the site name.
Hint
Key points about sitelinks:
Replication Control: Sitelinks determine how directory data is replicated between SambaBox sites. They specify which sites can communicate with each other and the available bandwidth for replication traffic.
Cost-Based Routing: Sitelinks use a cost-based algorithm to decide the most efficient path for replication. This algorithm considers factors such as available bandwidth, connection speed, and replication schedule, ensuring that data is replicated optimally.
Schedule: Sitelinks define when replication can occur between sites. You can configure sitelinks to replicate data continuously, at specific intervals, or during specific time windows to avoid peak network usage periods.
Bridgehead Servers: Bridgehead servers, selected within each site, use sitelinks to initiate and manage the replication process with their counterparts in other sites. They play a crucial role in controlling and optimizing the replication traffic.
Site Link Bridges: In more complex SambaBox topologies, you can use site link bridges to connect multiple sitelinks and control replication routes more precisely.
Sitelinks are essential for maintaining the integrity and consistency of directory data in geographically distributed SambaBox environments. Properly configuring and managing sitelinks ensures efficient replication, reduces network congestion, and enhances the overall performance and reliability of the SambaBox infrastructure.
